Raise Money with the Interstate Battery Sale

Do you have Scouts who need help paying for Summer Camp or Day Camp? Do you need new tents or other equipment for summer programs? Do you have Scouts saving money for the 2013 Jamboree or other high adventure trips?

All this and much more can be paid for with the Interstate Battery Sale. Did you know that the average home has over 25 battery powered devices? Batteries are easy to sell; profitable for your unit; and can help power up your Scouting adventures. Several units across Texas sold over $50,000 in batteries last year.

The product mix includes AAA, AA, C, D and 9 volt batteries plus an emergency flashlight. Every house hold needs and uses batteries, especially with the fast approaching summer storm season. There are several troops across America that sell over $25,000 in batteries for each of the last three years, and one troop in Dallas that consistently sells $60,000 in batteries.

Sales Dates

You Pick the April dates that work best for your Scouting unit. We recommend that your sale run from April 7 – 21, 2013. This allows your Scouts to have three weekends plus the two weeks in between to sell.

Order Due Date

All Battery Sales Orders are due to the Council Service Center (700 Everhart Terrace, Building A, Corpus Christi, TX 78411) by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.

Product Delivery

Your unit’s batteries will be shipped directly from the Interstate warehouse in Dallas by UPS to the location of your choice. All we ask is that someone be there to receive and sign for the batteries. Units should receive batteries within two weeks of the end of the sale..

Money Due Date

The money for the battery sale is due in the Scout Service Center on or before 5:00 p.m. on May 23, 2013.


We have a simplified Commission Plan for the 2013 Battery Sale. You will receive 40% commission on your gross battery sales. You will receive a bonus commission of 5% of your gross sales if you pay on-time with one check. That is a total commission of 45% of your gross sales!

Prizes and Recognition

All youth who sell at least one item will receive an Interstate Battery Participation Patch. We will have a Grand Prize Drawing in each Traditional District. Scouts will get one chance in the drawing for each order form they fill up (20 items). Prize winners will receive their choice of a free week of Boy Scout Summer Camp, Boy Scout Winter Camp or Webelos Winter Camp at Camp Karankawa OR a free Cub Scout Day Camp.

How to Participate

Download, print, complete and return the 2013 Interstate Battery Sale Information Packet (1094) . The council will then send you a packet of sales materials including Take Order Forms (two per Scout), and Battery Order Form. You set your unit’s sales dates; decide how you are going to use the commission money; and promote the sale to your Scouts and Parents.
