Upcoming Catholic Scouting Day of Recollection

The Diocese of Corpus Christi Catholic Committee on Scouting is sponsoring a Catholic Scouting Day of Recollection on Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This special event will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5830 Williams Dr. in Corpus Christi. The theme for this year is Immaculate Conception.

All currently registered Wolf, Bear and Webelos Cub Scouts and currently registered Brownie & Junior Girl Scouts are invited to attend. (Tigers and Daisies will be too young this year, but will be able to attend as Brownie or Wolf Scouts next year.) Leaders and parents are needed to assist dens/packs. We request a ratio of one adult to every four scouts attending the event.

We will have crafts, games, and fun events having to do with the learning more about Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Mass will be included in the day’s events. There will be a 6:00 Sunday Mass at OLPH Church. All Scouts who attend will receive a special patch.

There will be a $5.00 family fee taken at the door.

Pre-registration is a must. Attendance will be limited to the first 100 registered Scouts.

Registration forms were e-mailed to Girl Scout Leaders and mailed to Cub masters, Den Leaders, Webelos Den Leaders, and Pack Committee Members.

For additional information call Rosina Salas, Recollection Chair, at (361) 442-0549 or e-mail at salasrosina@yahoo.com.

Another way to expand on the Catholic Scouting Day of Recollection would be to participate in the Our Lady of Guadalupe procession. All Scouts will need to wear Class A uniform to participate. The Federation of Guadalupanas of the Diocese of Corpus Christi invites you and your family to the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe procession making its way from Sacred Heart Church to Corpus Christi Cathedral on Thursday, Dec. 12. The procession will organize at 5 p.m. and will depart at 5:30 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will carry a large image of Our Lady of Guadalupe up to the Cathedral altar. Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey will celebrate Holy Mass at 6:15 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring your own roses to present to the Virgin of Guadalupe. After mass there will be a reception at St. Joseph’s Hall.
