Explorer Post 132 Recognized For Fighting Flu

When an outbreak of influenza swept San Patricio County earlier this year, Explorers from Medical Explorer Post 132 sprang into action, assisting county officials in administering influenza immunizations across the area.

The Post’s service was noticed by many – including the San Patricio County Commissioners Court. On April 21, 2014, the commissioners court recognized Post 132 with a commendation of public service. Check out the full text below:

WHEREAS, The County of San Patricio has experienced an outbreak of influenza resulting in a large number of illnesses and deaths; 
WHEREAS, Influenza is a dangerous and highly communicable disease which represent an acute and present danger to the citizens of this County; 
WHEREAS, Members of Medical Explorer Post 132, Boy Scouts of America, with no advance notice, provided assistance for mass influenza immunization clinics;
WHEREAS, The spread of influenza outbreak was slowed by the mass immunization clinics and the efforts of these Explorer Scouts;
WHEREAS, These Explorer Scouts are Keynna Ortiz-Cedeño, Emma Esslinger, Emily Reinhart, Ivy Khevali, Keiarra Ortiz-Cedeño, Montana Beal and Jacqueline Hernandez. 
THEREFORE, These members of Medical Explorer Post 132 are officially commended for their public service in slowing the spread of this dangerous epidemic. 
RESOLVED AND ADOPTED by the San Patricio County Commissioners Court on this the 21st day of April, 2014.
