LUCIEN FLOURNOY SERVICE CENTER

The center has 9,400 square feet and houses the administrative headquarters and the Holloway Scout Shop. The administrative offices are open between 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The council staff and Scout Shop staff support thousands of volunteers and families registered in our council service area. The professional staff also operate from this site.

CAMP KARANKAWA

23564 PARK ROAD 25, MATHIS, TX 78368

This 130-acre Scout camp is the South Texas Council’s flagship property. It includes 17 campsites, rustic cabins, and a residence house, all equipped with modern restroom facilities. Its program amenities include a large swimming pool, a waterfront with canoes, rowboats, sailboats, kayaks, paddle boards, craft areas, nature area and trails, archery, rifle, shotgun, a campfire amphitheater, and a COPE Ropes Course. Its administrative and guest services facilities include a camp store and visitors center, a 300-person dining hall and conference center, an office, and a health lodge. Programs are operated year round for Scouts, and unit camping is available throughout the year. Civic groups and community organizations are also welcome to utilize Camp Karankawa at competitive rates throughout the year.

NATIONAL CAMP STANDARDS
Camp Karankawa is inspected annually by a team that represents the Boy Scouts of America.  The Camp meets or exceeds all standards and regulations.  We are also inspected regularly by the Texas Health Department.  We feature a Health Lodge staffed by a qualified professional provider for routine health checks and problems.  Strict health and safety standards are maintained at all times.

CAMP HUISACHE

HENRY CUELLAR ROADWAY, LAREDO, TX

Camp Huisache is located on Lake Casa Blanca, near Laredo. This 30-acre camp has 6 campsites, program shelters and a new 10,000 square foot administration and conference center that also includes the Aztec Service Center. The facility, which opened in May of 1997, hosts youth activities for other youth-serving agencies in addition to Scouting events and activities. A professional staff member is based in Laredo, and they work in the office. The camp is managed by a program coordinator and a caretaker.
